MUSIC VIDEO WORKSHOP

A quality checklist for full-song YouTube visualizers

A ten-second preview can hide problems in a four-minute song. Review the full visualizer at several musical landmarks, then watch the complete export once with sound before publishing.

Check more than the drop

Start with the first visible frame: it should establish the release rather than show an accidental blank or cut-off title. Inspect the first vocal entry, a quiet breakdown, the busiest passage and the final fade. Note the timestamp of any problem so the next review checks the same moment.

A still or restrained section is not necessarily a fault. Decide whether it suits the arrangement. Look instead for unintended cropping, a spectrum hidden behind the cover, background motion that distracts from the music, or a final image that disappears before the audio ends.

Make the release identifiable

Read the artist and track names on a phone. Check their spelling against the artist's approved release information, not an old filename. Keep the cover and video title consistent so someone who hears the song elsewhere can recognise it. Add collaborator credits where agreed and distinguish the musician from the software used to create the visuals.

Only use audio, artwork and footage you are entitled to publish. An exported visualizer does not grant rights to its source material. A platform accepting an upload also does not establish that you own those rights.

Inspect the actual export

Play the finished file, not just the app preview. Listen for a cut-off beginning, an abrupt ending and any mismatch between sound and animation. Confirm that the orientation is the one intended for the main release. A landscape full-track video and a portrait teaser are separate compositions, not interchangeable delivery files.

Use the export settings guide to choose a starting resolution. If the render is demanding, first run a short test using the export workload checklist. Avoid discovering an unsuitable setting only after the full song has rendered.

Review the platform copy before announcing it

When the platform offers a private or unlisted review workflow, use it to inspect the processed copy before the public announcement. Check its available playback quality, audio and cover readability. If the local master is clear but the processed copy is not, follow the blur troubleshooting guide rather than immediately rebuilding the whole video.

  • Opening, quiet passage, peak and ending reviewed.
  • Artist, title and agreed credits checked.
  • Local export watched all the way through.
  • Processed upload checked at normal viewing size.
  • Correct public link ready for the release announcement.
