MUSIC VIDEO WORKSHOP
Why is my music visualizer blurry after upload?
A clear preview does not guarantee a clear upload. Find the first stage where detail disappears: source artwork, exported file or the platform's processed copy. Change one variable at a time so you can tell what actually helped.
Compare three versions of the same moment
Choose a passage with a strong beat, readable cover text and some quieter motion. Keep that passage unchanged throughout the test. First inspect the original cover, then the exported file at its native size, and finally the uploaded version after processing. Comparing different passages can hide the cause: a still image and a burst of particles put very different demands on compression.
- If the cover is already soft, start with a higher-quality original, not a screenshot of the cover.
- If the cover is sharp but the local export is soft, check the output dimensions and how far the cover was enlarged.
- If only the uploaded copy is soft, preserve the original export and simplify the most fragile details before another test.
Design for detail that survives a small screen
Thin lines, tiny text and dense particles may look impressive on a desktop and become indistinct on a phone. Increase the separation between the spectrum and its background. Give artist and song names enough space, and avoid placing fine texture directly behind them. Do not make every element brighter: the viewer needs a clear focal point.
Try one version with fewer small moving details and another with your original composition. Compare both at normal phone size, not only while zoomed in. A cleaner 1080p composition may communicate the song better than a busy 4K file; this is a creative test, not a guarantee about platform encoding.
Keep the delivery file intact
Upload the exported master directly when practical. A copy downloaded from a messaging service may already have been compressed. Keep a separate master and label delivery files by orientation and resolution so an old low-resolution test is not mistaken for the finished video.
For a vertical release, compose in portrait rather than enlarging a narrow crop from a landscape export. YOLO Studio PRO supports native 9:16. Review the resolution and frame-rate guide before exporting a full song.
Decide whether the test is ready
- Can you read the artist name without enlarging the phone view?
- Can you follow the spectrum against the busiest background?
- Are quiet gradients acceptable in the local file and processed upload?
- Did you compare the same passage with only one setting changed?
If the file is sharp locally, repeatedly increasing resolution is not a diagnosis. Keep the clearest test, record its settings and use the YouTube quality checklist for the full-track review.
